Kidnapped Family Freed After Sunday Igboho’s Two-Hour Ultimatum in Oyo

Igboho, Oyo State — A kidnapped family, including a pregnant woman, has reportedly regained freedom in Igboho, Oyo State, following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Residents of the community were seen celebrating after news of the victims’ release emerged, with videos circulating online showing crowds rejoicing over their return.

The development comes hours after Igboho issued a stern warning to suspected kidnappers and community leaders, demanding the immediate release of the abducted victims or face decisive action.

“I am giving them two hours… If I don’t see them, we will clash,” Igboho had warned while addressing stakeholders in the town.

The victims — a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling — were abducted earlier in the week, with kidnappers reportedly demanding a ransom that was initially set at N300 million before being reduced to N150 million.

Following the ultimatum, reports indicated that the victims were released, though the exact circumstances surrounding their freedom remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Igboho had accused suspected criminal elements of terrorising residents and vowed that such incidents would no longer be tolerated in the community.

The incident has heightened security concerns in Oyo State, while also sparking fresh debate over community-based responses to kidnapping and rising insecurity across Nigeria.
