The Kogi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commended Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s administration for what it described as inclusive governance and sustained development efforts across key sectors.
The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by the CAN State Executive Council, led by its Chairman, Special Apostle Adebayo Emmanuel, to the governor in Lokoja. The delegation included leaders of the association’s five blocs and chairmen from all 21 local government areas.
CAN said the visit was aimed at strengthening engagement between government and the church, while also presenting challenges facing citizens for attention.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Apostle Emmanuel highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between government and religious bodies to enhance service delivery and promote development.
He noted that such partnerships would deepen understanding of citizens’ needs and improve policy outcomes, while also fostering institutional synergy.
The association acknowledged the administration’s support for its activities and pointed to ongoing projects, including the renovation and construction of 628 public schools, as evidence of a focus on social infrastructure.
CAN also cited the payment of salaries, tax relief measures for civil servants, and the construction of 110 cottage hospitals across the state as key achievements. It further referenced the ongoing development of the Kogi International Airport and other projects initiated within the past two years.
Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, who facilitated the visit, said the governor’s open-door policy had improved access to government and ensured that citizens’ voices are heard.
Responding, Governor Ododo expressed appreciation for the support and prayers of the Christian community, describing peace and religious harmony as critical to the state’s development.
He assured that his administration would continue to prioritise the security of lives and property, including the protection of places of worship, and urged religious leaders to sustain peaceful coexistence and respect for constituted authority.
