N150m Land Scam: Four Arrested for Impersonating Wike in Abuja Fraud Scheme

Four suspected fraudsters have landed in police custody for allegedly using the name of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to dupe a retired military officer and others of over N150 million in a shady land deal in Abuja.

The prime suspect, Yashim Kajang, was picked up on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, after he allegedly swindled retired Major General A.K. Ibrahim and other victims with promises of securing choice plots at Guzape II Cadastral Zone.

Kajang reportedly posed as a close associate of the FCT Minister and officials in the land department, convincing his victims that he could deliver genuine land documents for Plot 1985, said to cover about three hectares, as well as other plots.

Police sources said the suspect collected over N150 million from the victims before the bubble burst.

Under interrogation, Kajang allegedly fingered three accomplices Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, said to be linked to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), and one Terngu Ipaven as partners in the fraud.

He confessed that the trio supplied him with land information and data which he used to perfect the scam.

All four suspects are currently cooling their heels in police custody as investigations continue to unravel the full extent of the alleged multi-million naira fraud.
