A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Sa’ad Abdullahi, has demanded an investigation into the alleged disappearance of hospital equipment he donated to Umaisha General Hospital in Toto Local Government Area.
Abdullahi, who represents the Umaisha/Ugya Constituency, raised the alarm during a follow-up inspection of the hospital on Saturday, after reportedly discovering that items he supplied weeks earlier were no longer available at the facility.
In a video circulating online, the visibly upset lawmaker confronted hospital officials over the whereabouts of the donated equipment, including more than 50 ceiling fans, about 40 standing fans and 50 orthopaedic mattresses.
“I bought over 50 ceiling fans, over 40 standing fans, 50 orthopaedic mattresses. Where are they?” Abdullahi asked while demanding that the hospital staff account for the items.
He also questioned the mattresses presented to him at the facility, rejecting claims that they were the same ones he had purchased.
“How can you tell me this is the mattress I bought? Can you show the mattresses I bought? I bought them for my people,” he said.
The lawmaker said the items were purchased with his personal funds as part of efforts to improve conditions for patients and upgrade facilities at the community hospital.
He expressed concern over the alleged disappearance of the donations, which were intended to improve patient comfort and support healthcare delivery in his constituency.
Abdullahi indicated that he would report the matter to the Nasarawa State Hospital Management Board for investigation and possible recovery of the missing items.
The allegations have generated reactions on social media, with some users calling for an investigation and accountability over the handling of donated equipment at the hospital.
However, the allegations of diversion or sale of the items have not been independently established, and no detailed response from the hospital management or the Nasarawa State Government was immediately available.
The case is therefore expected to hinge on an official investigation establishing what happened to the donated equipment and whether any hospital officials were involved in its alleged disappearance.
