The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), in collaboration with Nile University of Nigeria, has hosted an Executive Industry Immersion Challenge (EIIC) aimed at strengthening youth leadership and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
The four-day programme, held at NDIC’s headquarters in Abuja, brought together executive MBA students from the Nile Business School for hands-on exposure to real-world policy formulation, institutional governance, and public sector management.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, NDIC Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, described the initiative as a strategic intervention designed to equip future leaders with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience required in today’s dynamic global workplace.
He noted that the programme provides a platform for participants to understand the realities of the corporate environment, particularly within the financial sector, while reinforcing the importance of ethics, transparency, and sound governance.

“The Executive Industry Immersion Challenge offers participants valuable insights into policy development and institutional operations, which are critical for effective leadership and national development,” he said.
The NDIC boss also reiterated the corporation’s role as a financial safety-net institution committed to maintaining financial system stability and enhancing depositor confidence across Nigeria’s banking sector.
Project Coordinator of the programme and Director of Research, Policy and International Relations at NDIC, Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu, explained that the EIIC was intentionally designed as an experiential learning initiative to bridge the disconnect between classroom theory and industry practice.
In his remarks, the Dean of Nile Business School, Prof. Hauwa Lamido, represented by Dr. Festus Ekechi, said the choice of NDIC as a partner institution was informed by its reputation for professionalism, integrity, and strong corporate governance.
He added that the university would incorporate lessons from the immersion programme into its curriculum to ensure that students can apply practical knowledge in their professional environments.
The initiative underscores growing collaboration between academic institutions and industry stakeholders in preparing the next generation of leaders for Nigeria’s evolving economic and governance landscape.
