In a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria reiterated its readiness to back credible regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the crisis in Sudan.

Enikanolaiye emphasised Nigeria’s longstanding diplomatic and strategic ties with Sudan, describing the relationship as one anchored on shared history, strong people-to-people connections and mutual respect.

He stressed that Nigeria supports an inclusive, Sudanese-led peace process capable of preserving national unity and delivering sustainable stability.

“Nigeria remains firmly committed to supporting an inclusive, Sudanese-led peace process capable of preserving the country’s unity and facilitating sustainable peace,” the minister said.

He also underscored the need for broad-based national dialogue involving all stakeholders, noting that a credible political roadmap is critical to achieving long-term peace and democratic transition.

The Sudanese envoy, in his remarks, briefed the Nigerian government on the current political and security situation in Sudan, highlighting efforts by his country to restore stability through regional and international initiatives, including the Jeddah peace process.

He appealed for Nigeria’s continued support and sought assistance in facilitating Sudan’s reintegration into the African Union.

Enikanolaiye assured that he would brief President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the outcome of the discussions and recommend further steps Nigeria could take to support peace efforts.
