Nigeria Congratulates São Tomé President Vila Nova on Re-election

ABUJA — The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated President Carlos Vila Nova on his re-election as President of São Tomé and Príncipe, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria commended the people of São Tomé and Príncipe for conducting what it described as a peaceful electoral process.

“The people of São Tomé and Príncipe have once again demonstrated their commitment to democratic values and the rule of law by participating in a peaceful electoral process,” the statement said.

Nigeria also praised the electorate for what it called “maturity and civic responsibility” in exercising their democratic rights.

The government reaffirmed its solidarity with the island nation and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in key areas.

“Nigeria remains committed to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect that exist between our two countries,” the statement added.

It said both nations would continue collaboration in areas including regional peace and security, economic development and democratic governance across Africa.

The Federal Government further wished President Vila Nova a successful second term in office and expressed hope for continued stability and prosperity in São Tomé and Príncipe.
