First Lady Distributes Food Items to Vulnerable in Ondo

AKURE — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday distributed food items to widows, the elderly and other vulnerable groups in Ondo State as part of efforts to ease economic hardship.

Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, the First Lady said the intervention was under the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Social Investment Programme aimed at addressing malnutrition and supporting disadvantaged Nigerians.

“The Food Outreach Scheme is designed to provide access to nutritious food for vulnerable groups, thereby improving their well-being,” she said.

Tinubu noted that the programme, launched under the Renewed Hope Initiative, has reached 27 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with support from donors including BUA Group.

“These acts of kindness have remained possible through the generous support of our donors who are committed to improving lives at the grassroots,” she added.

She said the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, focusing on social welfare and community support.

The First Lady also commended the Ondo State Government for its commitment to the welfare of residents and urged that the items be distributed transparently to beneficiaries.

In her remarks, the wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, represented by Dr. Bosede Adelami, expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as impactful for vulnerable households.

“This programme has made significant impact in the lives of our people, especially the vulnerable,” she said, assuring that the items would reach intended beneficiaries.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented at the event, described the outreach as a demonstration of compassion and support for disadvantaged groups.

He commended the First Lady for the initiative, noting that it complements government efforts to alleviate poverty and improve living conditions.

The event was attended by spouses of several state governors and senior government officials.
