Nigeria, Tunisia Move to Deepen Bilateral Ties After Ministerial Talks

ABUJA — Nigeria and Tunisia have taken steps to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations following a high-level phone conversation between their foreign ministers on July 10, 2026.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, held discussions with her Tunisian counterpart, H.E. Mohammed Ali Nafti, focusing on consolidating longstanding bilateral ties and identifying new areas of cooperation.

According to a statement by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the discussions centered on strengthening the existing relationship between both countries while exploring fresh avenues for collaboration.

The statement noted that both ministers underscored the importance of deepening cooperation across key sectors, including trade, diplomacy, and regional stability, with a view to delivering mutual benefits.

The engagement reflects Nigeria’s continued diplomatic outreach across Africa, as well as Tunisia’s efforts to reinforce strategic partnerships on the continent.

While no formal agreements were announced, the talks signal a renewed commitment by both nations to advance bilateral relations through sustained dialogue and cooperation.
