NMDPRA, Marketers Meet in Abuja to Address Fuel Supply, Pricing Concerns

ABUJA — The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on Wednesday held talks with major industry groups in Abuja to address fuel supply, distribution and pricing issues in the petroleum sector.

Participants at the meeting included the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN), the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) terminal operators.

The Authority Chief Executive, Rabiu Umar, said the engagement was aimed at understanding operational challenges facing industry players and improving coordination across the midstream and downstream segments.

He said the regulator would continue to implement policies that support investment, market stability and efficiency in petroleum product distribution.

Umar also stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the regulator and operators to address emerging issues and maintain a stable market environment.

The Chairman of MEMAN, Huub Stokman, said the industry requires a regulatory system that is consistent, transparent and predictable to support investor confidence.

DAPPMAN Chairman, Moroti Adedoyin-Adeyinka, said the association supports ongoing reforms and will continue to work with the regulator to improve sector performance.

Stakeholders at the meeting discussed the impact of domestic refining on pricing dynamics, as well as concerns related to liquefied petroleum gas supply and pricing.

The Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, Ogbugo Ukoha, said the discussions reflected a shared commitment to resolving industry concerns through engagement.
