Omo-Agege Dumps APC, Joins NDC Ahead Of 2027 Battle

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Omo-Agege, in a statement issued on Thursday, said he would contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the NDC and support the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The former lawmaker said his decision followed weeks of consultations with political associates, supporters and stakeholders across Delta State.

“Today, I formally announce my decision to join the National Democratic Congress. This decision is the product of weeks of reflection, wide consultations, and honest conversations with the people I serve,” he stated.

He described the NDC as a platform built on inclusion, accountability and grassroots participation, adding that the party offers the best opportunity to reposition Delta State and Nigeria.

Declaring his senatorial ambition, Omo-Agege said the move was in response to growing calls from his supporters for him to return to the Senate.

“I cannot ignore the trust and confidence our people have placed in me,” he said.

The former deputy senate president also pledged to strengthen the NDC structure across Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the party would mobilise massively from the grassroots and field credible candidates capable of delivering good governance.

Omo-Agege further urged youths, women and voters across the state to register and participate actively in the 2027 elections, describing the poll as a defining moment for Delta State and Nigeria.
