The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has promised to introduce monthly stipends for residents aged 75 and above within his first 100 days in office if elected governor in 2027.
Adegoke also pledged to provide free education from primary to secondary school and ensure full implementation of local government autonomy in the state.
He made the promises on Thursday during a thank-you visit to Irepo, Orelope and Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, where he expressed appreciation to residents for their support following his emergence as the ADC governorship candidate.
The businessman and politician also promised to construct a rail line linking Moniya in Ibadan with the Oke-Ogun axis to facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce to Ibadan and other major markets.
Adegoke said his decision to begin his thank-you tour from Irepo, Orelope and Olorunsogo was in recognition of the contribution of the ADC state chairman, Afees Jimoh, popularly known as Ona Ara, who hails from the area.
He said he would visit all the 14 federal constituencies in the state to appreciate party members and supporters who contributed to his emergence as the ADC candidate.
Adegoke, who promised to return to the area to campaign for votes when the campaign window opens on September 9, 2026, expressed particular affection for Kishi, Igbeti and Igboho.
He assured the people that his administration would give priority to infrastructure and economic development across Oke-Ogun and other parts of the state.
According to him, Oke-Ogun remained the food basket of Oyo State, making improved transportation infrastructure essential to unlocking the agricultural potential of the zone.
“I am a graduate of Agricultural Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and I know what is required to assist our farmers in moving their produce to urban areas.
“I will construct a rail line from Moniya in Ibadan to link the Oke-Ogun area so that farmers can transport their produce to markets in the urban areas,” he said.
Adegoke said the rail project would help farmers increase their earnings and enable them to provide better education and opportunities for their children.
On education, he reiterated his commitment to free primary and secondary education, saying parents would not be required to pay school fees for their children under his administration.
The ADC candidate also promised to prioritise the welfare of elderly residents, saying those aged 75 years and above would receive monthly stipends beginning within his first 100 days in office.
He further reiterated his commitment to local government autonomy, promising to ensure that councils in the state have the necessary independence to deliver development at the grassroots.
Speaking at the event, ADC chairman in Oyo State, Afees Jimoh, thanked residents of Kishi and other communities for their support for Adegoke.
Jimoh urged party members and supporters to intensify mobilisation for the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He called for house-to-house mobilisation across the state for the party’s presidential, governorship and other candidates, saying an ADC government would ensure balanced development across Oyo State.

Lanre Saheed Agoro; Irepo/Olorunsogo/Orelope Federal Constituency candidate, Dr. Abdulsalam Abdul Afees Babatunde; Irepo/Olorunsogo House of Assembly candidate, Nasiru Ibrahim Adeniyi; Orelope House of Assembly candidate, Owolabi Samson; and other party leaders in the zone.
