Iseyin, Oyo State — The Oyo State Government has advanced the operationalization of the Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries Limited in Iseyin, Oke Ogun zone, marking a key step in agricultural industrialization.
The private sector-led factory, supported by the state, is set to engage about 1,000 sugarcane farmers through out-grower schemes and create over 500 direct jobs, boosting the local economy.
Once fully operational, the facility is projected to produce 24 to 27 tonnes of brown sugar and 18 tonnes of molasses daily
Governor Seyi Makinde recently received a technical team from India’s Saba Exports Ltd to support commissioning, training, and operations. The project capitalizes on Iseyin’s suitable agro-ecology and proximity to farming communities.
“This initiative aligns with our agribusiness agenda to create wealth, reduce imports, and empower farmers,” state officials said.
The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) facilitated the partnership. The factory is expected to enhance food security and serve as a model for similar investments nationwide.
