PDP Declares End of Crisis, Unveils Bold Roadmap for 2027 Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday declared that the “era of uncertainty is over,” as its National Executive Committee (NEC) rolled out far-reaching resolutions aimed at unifying the party and positioning it for victory in the 2027 general elections.

The position was contained in a communique issued at the end of the 108th NEC meeting held at the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, where leaders reviewed post-convention developments and internal restructuring efforts.

The NEC commended the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed for what it described as “dedication and proactive leadership” in stabilising the party, expressing confidence in its capacity to steer the PDP towards unity and electoral success.

Reaffirming internal cohesion, the party declared itself “a united and formidable political family,” stressing that lingering disagreements must henceforth be resolved through dialogue and strict adherence to party structures.

NEC also placed strong emphasis on reconciliation and discipline, urging members to put aside personal interests and work collectively to strengthen the party’s national outlook.

A major highlight of the resolutions was the party’s endorsement of its electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise, which it said would modernise its database, improve transparency, and deepen grassroots participation.

On preparations for the 2027 polls, the NEC adopted the timetable and schedule of activities for party primaries, including the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, in line with revised electoral guidelines.

The party directed all organs to strictly comply with the timetable, warning that discipline and order would guide the nomination process.

The NEC also aligned with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), directing full compliance with regulations on membership registers, primaries, and dispute resolution mechanisms.

State and zonal structures were further instructed to immediately begin preparations for forthcoming primaries, with emphasis on transparency, inclusiveness, and adherence to due process.

Reiterating its resolve, the NEC urged members to remain loyal and disciplined, stressing that only unity of purpose and internal cohesion would reposition the party for national leadership.

“The PDP remains committed to unity, stability, and progress, and is confident that with discipline and collective effort, it will reclaim leadership at all levels in 2027,” the communique stated.

The document was signed on behalf of the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party.
