The Peoples Democratic Party has adopted former Cross River governorship candidate, Sandy Onor, as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, during the collation and presentation of the faction’s presidential primary results.
Chairman of the PDP Presidential Primaries Collation Committee and former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, said the decision followed consultations with party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, Onor emerged as the sole presidential aspirant after purchasing his nomination and expression of interest forms earlier this month.
Following the announcement, the party leadership led by National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, presented Onor with the party’s flag and certificate of return as its presidential candidate.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the exercise at the party secretariat in Abuja.
