Subhead: Husband interrogated as Anambra Command launches probe into disturbing video
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged case of child pornography and sexual abuse involving a minor in Onitsha.
The arrest followed the circulation of a disturbing video allegedly showing the suspect sexually abusing a minor.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Thursday that operatives arrested Onyeanusia on September 10, 2026, following information obtained through open-source intelligence.
According to him, the operation also led to the rescue of four children aged two, three, six and nine, while items relevant to the investigation were recovered.
“The Anambra State Police Command on September 10, 2026, acting on open-source intelligence concerning a disturbing trending video of a lady allegedly using sex toys on a minor, has arrested one Anulika Onyeanusia, a 36-year-old woman, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, Anambra State,” Ikenga said.
He added that the suspect remained in police custody as investigators intensified efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other persons were involved.
The police spokesperson also disclosed that the suspect’s husband was being interrogated to establish whether he had any connection with the alleged crime.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji, expressed concern over the alleged abuse, describing the exploitation of children as unacceptable.
Oji directed the command to conduct a thorough and professional investigation while ensuring that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection.
The police said its priority was the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the children, adding that it would work with relevant child-protection and support agencies to provide counselling and other assistance required for their recovery.
The command also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the investigation and any subsequent legal process.
The police commended vigilante operatives, bloggers and residents whose information, it said, assisted the investigation and led to the arrest of the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
