Power Minister Tegbe Assumes Office, Calls for Stronger Collaboration to Improve Electricity Supply

The newly appointed Minister of Power, Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, has assumed office with a call for stronger collaboration and coordinated efforts to improve electricity supply across Nigeria.

Tegbe resumed duties at the Federal Ministry of Power headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, where he held his inaugural meeting with Chief Executives and Heads of Agencies and Parastatals under the ministry.

During the meeting, the minister stressed the need for improved coordination among key stakeholders in the power sector, noting that effective collaboration is critical to advancing ongoing reforms and enhancing service delivery nationwide.

He urged agencies under the ministry to demonstrate collective commitment towards addressing challenges in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, while aligning efforts with the Federal Government’s broader energy reform agenda.

Tegbe also highlighted the importance of teamwork and accountability in achieving sustainable improvements in power supply, expressing optimism that a unified approach would accelerate progress in the sector.

His appointment comes at a time when Nigeria continues to pursue reforms aimed at strengthening the power value chain and delivering more reliable electricity to homes and businesses.
