PTML Boosts Port Operations, Hands Over ICT-Enabled Office Complex to Customs in Lagos

Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) has handed over a new fully furnished and ICT-enabled office complex to the Nigeria Customs Service at the Tin Can Island Port Complex in Lagos, in a move aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and trade facilitation.

The facility was officially presented by the Managing Director of PTML, Mr. Ascanio Russo, during a handover ceremony attended by Customs officials and maritime stakeholders.

The new office complex, equipped with modern Information and Communications Technology facilities, is expected to provide a more conducive working environment for Customs officers operating at the terminal and improve cargo processing activities.

Speaking at the event, Russo described the project as part of PTML’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Customs Service and enhancing operational standards within the port system.

According to him, the development reflects the company’s vision of deepening collaboration between terminal operators and government regulatory agencies to ensure seamless cargo operations and improved trade facilitation.

“This project symbolises our enduring partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service and our collective determination to improve operational standards at the port,” he said.

“We firmly believe that when regulatory agencies are provided with the right work environment and support, they are better positioned to carry out their responsibilities efficiently.”

Russo noted that the new facility would enhance productivity, strengthen operational effectiveness and contribute to faster cargo movement at the terminal.

He also commended officers and men of the PTML Command for their professionalism and contributions to cargo throughput and government revenue generation.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Customs Area Controller of the PTML Command, Comptroller Joe Anani, expressed appreciation to PTML for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.

Anani said the new office complex would significantly improve administrative coordination, operational efficiency and staff morale within the command.

“This is truly a dream come true for us. A modern workplace like this has a direct impact on the efficiency and motivation of officers,” he stated.

He added that the facility would further support the command’s mandate of facilitating legitimate trade while ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Stakeholders at the ceremony noted that the development would contribute to faster cargo clearance processes and stronger synergy between terminal operators and regulatory agencies in Nigeria’s maritime sector.

PTML, regarded as Nigeria’s leading roll-on roll-off terminal, plays a key role in vehicle and container imports and has continued to invest in infrastructure and technology-driven cargo handling systems aimed at improving port productivity and reducing cargo dwell time.
