In a bold move to boost education and improve teachers’ welfare, the Katsina State Government has begun the procurement of 3,000 electric motorcycles for teachers serving in rural communities across the state.
Chief Executive Officer of Ben10 Equipment, Mr. Ben Oshi, disclosed this yesterday during a press briefing, where he applauded Governor Umar Dikko Radda for what he described as a visionary intervention aimed at transforming rural education.
According to Oshi, the initiative is targeted at tackling the long-standing transportation challenges faced by teachers posted to remote communities.
He noted that many rural teachers travel long distances under difficult conditions to get to schools, a situation that negatively affects punctuality, productivity and quality teaching.
“The provision of electric motorcycles will significantly ease transportation challenges, improve punctuality and boost teaching effectiveness in rural communities,” he said.
Oshi described the project as a strategic investment in sustainable education and rural development, adding that improved mobility for teachers would strengthen community engagement and enhance socio-economic activities in underserved areas.
He also praised Xie Huping and his company, X and B Company, for partnering with Ben10 Equipment to execute the project.
Speaking at the briefing, Chairman of X and B Company, Mr. Xie Huping, thanked Governor Radda for the confidence reposed in his firm, describing the initiative as a major step towards improving education delivery and rural livelihoods in Katsina State.
“We are committed to delivering high-quality and durable electric motorcycles that meet international standards,” Huping assured.
He added that the motorcycles would be backed with a sustainable maintenance framework to guarantee efficiency, reliability and long-term use.
Oshi further highlighted the environmental benefits of the initiative, saying the adoption of electric motorcycles would reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower operational costs.
He stressed that the project underscores the Katsina State Government’s commitment to prioritising education, empowering teachers and accelerating development in rural communities.
