The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has rejected a claim by Kaduna Electric that transmission constraints were affecting electricity supply to Jos and surrounding areas, saying all 330kV transmission lines connected to the city are currently in service.
TCN described the statement by Kaduna Electric, dated August 26, 2026, as “false” and a “deliberate misrepresentation of facts.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are in service and transmitting bulk power,” TCN said in a statement issued by its management on Thursday.
The transmission company said it recorded only one incident involving a 330kV line supplying Jos in recent days, when the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened at about 3:30 a.m. on August 23 for voltage control.
According to TCN, the action was a routine operational measure taken to maintain stability on the national electricity grid.
The company said the line was subsequently restored and returned to service at 11:59 a.m. on August 24.
TCN said there had been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to the company since the restoration.
The clarification follows a statement attributed to Kaduna Electric alleging transmission constraints affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs.
TCN urged electricity customers in Jos and surrounding communities to disregard what it described as misleading information.
The transmission company also called on Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders in the electricity sector to verify operational information with TCN before issuing public statements.
“We urge Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify facts with TCN before issuing statements that misinform the public and create unnecessary anxiety,” the company said.
TCN said it remained committed to transparency and the efficient transmission of bulk electricity to distribution companies across Nigeria.
The company added that it would continue working with distribution companies to support stable and reliable electricity supply to customers.
