There were emotional scenes in Kano in the early hours of Monday as the popular praise singer behind the famous “Abba Ka Cika Gwarzo” anthem broke down in tears when Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf paid him a surprise visit at his hospital bed.
The visibly weak musician, who has been battling an undisclosed illness, became overwhelmed with emotion as the governor arrived at the hospital to check on his condition.
Unable to hold back his tears, the singer wept throughout the visit and struggled to speak, leaving family members, sympathisers and others present visibly moved.
Governor Yusuf consoled the ailing entertainer, prayed for his speedy recovery and assured him and his family of his support during the difficult period.
The governor also prayed for Allah to restore the singer’s health and grant him the strength to overcome his illness.
The emotional visit has since attracted widespread reactions, with many Kano residents and supporters describing the governor’s gesture as an act of compassion that went beyond politics.
Social media users also joined in offering prayers and words of encouragement, while calling on well-meaning Nigerians to support the singer as he undergoes treatment.
The praise singer became widely known through his hit song, “Abba Ka Cika Gwarzo,” which gained massive popularity among supporters of Governor Yusuf and became one of the signature campaign songs associated with the governor’s political movement.
