‘Thank You, Mr President’: Freed Oyo Pupils, Teachers Hail Tinubu, Security Forces After Rescue

The pupils and teachers rescued after spending weeks in captivity following their abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for securing their freedom.

In an emotional video released by the Presidency on Friday, the victims thanked the President for his commitment to ensuring their safe return, describing the rescue as proof of his concern for their welfare.

“We are grateful, Mr President, sir. We are grateful. We understand your commitment to our safety, and we appreciate all you did for us. We could see it in your heart. Thank you very much,” one of the rescued victims said.

The victims also showered praises on the security personnel who carried out the operation, saying their efforts saved their lives.

“Every security operative tried so much and that is why we are still alive now. We are very grateful to you. Thank you very much.

“Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. God bless you, sir. God bless you, sir,” the victim added.

The emotional appreciation came shortly after the Federal Government announced the successful rescue of all the abducted pupils and teachers.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development on Friday via his verified X handle.

“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” Onanuga wrote.

The victims were abducted on May 15 when armed men invaded three schools in the Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area, throwing families and residents into weeks of anxiety.

The rescue has been widely welcomed by Nigerians, with many commending the efforts of security agencies for bringing the victims home safely after nearly two months in captivity.
