Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants as part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, reaffirming his commitment to workers’ welfare alongside the ongoing transformation of the nation’s capital.
The promotions followed the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission, even as the minister directed the immediate commencement of the 2026 exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted without delay.
The approval comes weeks after the FCT witnessed the commissioning and flag-off of more than 30 projects between June 8 and July 17, 2026, to celebrate President Tinubu’s third year in office.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, who announced the development in Abuja, described the gesture as another demonstration of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to staff welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He disclosed that senior officers sat for their promotion examinations from July 1 to 3, while junior officers took theirs on July 10, leading to the successful completion of the exercise.
Ezeh commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to carry out its statutory responsibilities smoothly and efficiently.
He revealed that the minister had directed the commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that qualified workers are promoted as and when due.
According to him, “Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory, and for us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President.”
The commission chairman said the directive reflects the administration’s determination to match the massive infrastructural development across the FCT with improved staff welfare and career advancement.
He praised civil servants for their orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged those preparing for the 2026 exercise to maintain discipline and professionalism.
Ezeh also lauded the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation, noting that its support contributed significantly to the success of the promotion exercise.
He reminded prospective candidates that promotion in the FCT Civil Service remains merit-based, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.
