…President to return to Abuja after three-week vacation
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Paris, France, for the second leg of his three-week annual leave in Europe, officials close to the President have confirmed.
Tinubu was received on arrival by Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke, according to visuals made available on Sunday.
The President departed Abuja on Sunday, August 30, 2026, for the three-week holiday, with London, United Kingdom, as his first destination before proceeding to Paris for the second phase of his vacation.
According to a statement issued at the time by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave,’ the President is expected to return to Abuja after the holiday and join preparations for the January 2027 general election.
Tinubu’s departure came about a week after the release of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council list, which named the President and Vice President Kashim Shettima as chairman and vice chairman respectively.
Paris has remained one of Tinubu’s most frequently visited foreign destinations since he assumed office in May 2023.
According to a tally of the President’s foreign engagements by The PUNCH, Tinubu has visited Paris at least 13 times, spending more than 50 days in the French capital during various official, working and private trips.
The tally also showed that the Nigerian leader has spent more than 270 days outside the country, visiting at least 30 countries on 51 unique and recurrent trips.
He has reportedly covered approximately 260,000 nautical miles and accumulated more than 400 flight hours during his foreign engagements.
The President’s latest trip comes as political parties and various political blocs intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
