Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has criticised comedian and content creator Nasboi over a video he posted online, accusing him of spreading panic with what he described as misleading content.
Olusegun, in a post on his X handle, said the footage shared by Nasboi was wrongly presented as Nigerian-related when it actually originated from outside the country.
He claimed the video was taken from a source that identified the armed men as terrorists operating in the Republic of Benin, insisting it had no connection to Nigeria.
“You cannot continue to intentionally use your page to spread fear,” the presidential aide said, adding that Nasboi’s interpretation of the clip was “irresponsible.”
Olusegun warned that public figures must verify content before sharing, especially materials capable of causing panic.
Nasboi had earlier shared the video with a caption referencing President Bola Tinubu, sparking reactions online.
The footage showed armed men on motorcycles carrying out an attack in a rural area, but its authenticity and location could not be independently verified.
While similar militant videos have previously emerged from parts of the Sahel region, recent reports indicate that armed groups have also carried out attacks in neighbouring Benin Republic near border communities.
