The descendants of Uhonmora-Ora community in Edo State have given the Uhonmora Council of Chiefs a two-week ultimatum to resolve their internal disputes and unite. Failure to do so will lead to a reevaluation of the community’s administrative structure and system.
The ultimatum was handed down during the inauguration congress of the Uhonmora Progressive Union Worldwide, where new executives were sworn in.
The community lamented the prolonged division among the traditional chiefs, which has hindered development and led to factions and personal interests taking precedence over the community’s well-being.
Comrade Ikharo Attah, President of the Uhonmora Progressive Union Worldwide, emphasized the need for unity and warned against paying community funds into personal accounts.
He threatened that if the chiefs fail to unite, the community would convene an emergency congress to take historic decisions on the administration of Uhonmora.
The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Honourable Blessing Agbebaku, a descendant of Uhonmora, urged the chiefs to put aside their differences and work together. He promised to facilitate a community account to ensure transparency in financial dealings.
The community’s leaders emphasized the need for unity, transparency, and accountability, warning that the continued division and mismanagement of funds would have severe consequences.”
