Wike Moves to Seal Saudi Deal on Green City, Security, Economy

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has opened talks with Saudi Arabia on a strategic partnership covering green city development, security and economic growth.

Wike made the move in Abuja while receiving the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, assuring that the FCT is ready to collaborate and tap into the long-standing relationship between both countries.

“We will be happy to visit Riyadh and other cities in Saudi Arabia to identify areas of common interest and work together for mutual benefits,” Wike said.

The minister said Abuja is undergoing massive transformation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the FCT is being repositioned as a modern city that can compete with global capitals.

“We have not reached where we want to be yet, but the commitment is there. The FCT is on the path to becoming a world-class city,” he stated.

Earlier, Ambassador Al-Balawi praised the ongoing development in Abuja, describing it as a “beautiful green city,” and expressed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to strengthen ties with the FCT.

He said the Kingdom is keen on partnering with Abuja and boosting cooperation with Riyadh and other major Saudi cities, especially in infrastructure, security and economic development.
