Yobo Hails Wike: You’ve Raised the Bar for Governance in Abuja

Former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, has showered praises on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),  Barr. Nyesom Wike, saying his performance in Abuja has set a new standard for governance and infrastructure delivery in Nigeria.

Yobo, who spoke on the sidelines of the ongoing commissioning of landmark projects in the FCT, said Wike’s administration has changed the face of the nation’s capital through massive infrastructure development and prompt execution of projects.

According to the former football star, the minister has demonstrated that good governance is about delivering tangible dividends to the people.

“Coming to the FCT and seeing what the Minister has achieved is highly commendable and worthy of emulation,” Yobo said.

“He has raised the bar for governance by doing exactly what it requires providing infrastructure and bringing development to the people.”

He noted that while poor implementation has remained a major setback in Nigeria’s public sector, Wike has shown that strong leadership and commitment can fast-track development.

Yobo described the ongoing commissioning of roads and other public infrastructure across Abuja as unprecedented, saying the projects reflect Wike’s reputation as a result-oriented leader.

“The works being commissioned here in the FCT are not ordinary; they are monumental, landmark developments,” he said.

He added that the current projects represent only the first phase of the FCT Administration’s development drive, expressing optimism that more transformational projects would be delivered before the end of the year.

The former Super Eagles skipper also expressed confidence that sports development would receive greater attention under Wike’s leadership, recalling the minister’s passion for sports during his tenure as Rivers State governor.

“He is exactly the kind of leader who gets things done in this sector. I am confident he will put something excellent in place for FCT sports,” Yobo said.

He urged public office holders across the country to emulate Wike’s commitment to infrastructure development and effective service delivery.
