The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has dropped a political bombshell, declaring that he has not endorsed any candidate for upcoming elections in Rivers State, insisting that only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu enjoys his full backing ahead of 2027.
Wike made the declaration at his Life Camp residence in Abuja during a high-powered meeting of stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he warned politicians against scrambling for premature endorsements.
He stressed that no individual has the authority to anoint candidates, noting that such decisions would be taken collectively by party elders at the appropriate time.
Firing a warning shot, Wike said powerful forces are already plotting to break their ranks because of their unusual alliance and growing influence.
“If we are not united, it will be difficult. People are not happy we are working together, so they will try everything to divide us,” he declared.
The minister also blasted some appointees who, after benefiting from the group’s influence, turned around to attack its leadership, describing their actions as betrayal.
“Woe unto anyone we helped who now goes back to castigate us,” Wike fumed, adding that some beneficiaries can no longer look him in the face.
Shutting down rumours of secret deals, he insisted his position remains clear and consistent.
“Anything I say at night is what I will say in the daytime,” he said.
Wike reiterated that no endorsement has been made for any aspirant in Rivers State under either the APC or PDP, maintaining that only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been officially endorsed by the group.
He rounded off by praising Rivers elders, council chairmen and party leaders for their unity, noting that the smooth, complaint-free meeting showed the strength of their alliance.
