Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., the Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed deep sorrow over the fire that engulfed Panteka Market in Kaduna. The fire, which affected the timber section of the market, was confirmed by the Director of the Kaduna State Fire Service, Paul Aboi. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
In a statement by Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Abbas conveyed his sadness and empathy for the victims. He acknowledged the economic losses incurred by business owners and workers in the market, emphasizing the unfortunate timing of the incident amid existing economic challenges.
The Speaker urged the affected individuals to remain calm, offering prayers for comfort and the replacement of their losses. Abbas called on relevant agencies to take decisive measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Expressing solidarity, Speaker Abbas extended his sympathies to the people and the government of Kaduna State, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to address the aftermath of the fire incident.
