Katsina, Nigeria — Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnap victims in Katsina State as security forces intensify operations to capture notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, and his gang.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday by the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, who said the victims were freed during ongoing military offensives in identified bandit enclaves.
The rescued victims were identified as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36; and Salisu Danja, 50.
According to Mu’azu, the victims sustained injuries while in captivity and were immediately attended to by medical personnel after their rescue.
“They were rescued during sustained military operations in areas where the criminals are believed to be operating, and medical attention was promptly provided for gunshot wounds,” he said.
The rescue comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks responsible for banditry and kidnappings across the state.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their efforts, praising their professionalism and commitment.
“Their relentless efforts continue to yield positive results in the fight against banditry and kidnapping across the state,” the governor said.
Authorities reaffirmed that security forces remain on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other criminal elements, with ongoing operations expected to continue until those responsible for attacks on civilians are apprehended.
“We emphasise that ongoing operations will continue until all those responsible for acts of terror against innocent citizens are brought to justice,” the statement added.
The government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that intensified security measures are in place to deny criminals safe haven in the state.
