Accountability Group Backs ICPC Probe into NEPC CEO, Demands Thorough Investigation

An Abuja-based civil society organisation, Accountability Front, has thrown its weight behind the investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) into corruption allegations against the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).

The group, in a letter dated August 13, 2026, and addressed to the ICPC Chairman, commended the anti-corruption agency for what it described as its swift response to the allegations.

Signed by the Coordinator of the organisation, M. Kazalaha, the letter said the decision to investigate the allegations demonstrated the importance attached to transparency and accountability in public service.

According to the group, a thorough investigation is necessary to protect public resources and strengthen administrative integrity in agencies responsible for trade and economic development.

“We declare our unalloyed solidarity with the ICPC. We commend the professionalism and diligence demonstrated by your team of investigators thus far,” it stated.

The organisation urged the commission to remain firm and ensure that the investigation is conducted thoroughly, transparently and in accordance with due process.

It stressed that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to have been done, particularly in a matter involving a public institution.

Accountability Front also pledged to monitor the investigation until its logical conclusion, describing itself as a stakeholder committed to promoting good governance, transparency and public accountability.

The group concluded by commending the ICPC for its role in strengthening accountability and protecting public interest.
