Philadelphia, June 19, 2026 — Brazil moved to the top of Group C at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after a commanding 3-0 victory over Haiti, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice and Vinicius Jr adding a third.
The five-time world champions took control after a patient start, breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Cunha tapped in from close range after Vinicius Jr’s initial effort was parried by goalkeeper Johnny Placide.
Brazil doubled their lead 13 minutes later through Cunha again, the Manchester United forward finishing emphatically into the top corner after being set up by Vinicius Jr following a midfield turnover.
Vinicius Jr capped an impressive first-half display by getting on the scoresheet in stoppage time, calmly finishing a pass from Lucas Paquetá to put the result beyond doubt before the break.
Brazil controlled the second half, with Gabriel Martinelli striking the crossbar and Endrick having a goal ruled out for offside, while Haiti were unable to find a way past goalkeeper Alisson despite their efforts.
The result lifts Brazil above Morocco on goal difference at the top of Group C, both teams on four points, while Haiti’s defeat confirms their elimination from the tournament in their first World Cup appearance since 1974.
Vinicius Jr, who was named Player of the Match, played a key role in the victory, contributing to all three goals.
Cunha’s opening strike was also historic, marking his first FIFA World Cup goal and helping Brazil surpass Germany as the highest-scoring nation in World Cup history with 240 goals.
Brazil will face Scotland in their final group match, while Haiti conclude their campaign against Morocco.
