Madrid — In a dramatic twist in the summer transfer window, Atlético Madrid have rejected a €150 million offer from arch-rivals Real Madrid for Argentine forward Julián Álvarez.
The bid, reportedly submitted as part of Real Madrid’s high-profile recruitment drive, was turned down by the Colchoneros, who are understood to consider the player not for sale or have pointed to his substantial release clause (rumoured to be around €500 million).
Álvarez, who joined Atlético from Manchester City in 2024, has been in strong form for Diego Simeone’s side. The 26-year-old has established himself as a key player, contributing significantly with goals and assists in La Liga and European competitions.
This latest development adds fuel to the intense transfer speculation surrounding the forward, who has also been linked with interest from Barcelona and other top European clubs. Atlético Madrid are expected to hold firm on their valuation and stance regarding one of their prized assets.
The news comes amid Real Madrid’s aggressive pursuit of reinforcements ahead of the new season, with club president Florentino Pérez previously hinting at major signings.
Further updates are expected as the transfer window heats up.
