The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has mourned the death of the Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, describing his passing as a huge loss to the Church and the nation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said the late cleric dedicated his entire life to serving God and humanity through the preaching of the Gospel, mentoring Christian leaders and promoting unity within the Church.
The association extended its condolences to the late cleric’s widow, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, his children, members of All Christians Fellowship Mission, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and the entire Christian community mourning his death.
CAN recalled that Rev. Okoye served in several strategic leadership positions, including Chairman of CAN, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, Chairman of PFN, FCT Chapter, and later as CAN National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.
According to the association, his contributions helped strengthen the Christian faith and encouraged constructive engagement on issues affecting the Church and the nation.
The statement also highlighted his contributions to national development, noting that he served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.
CAN further noted that the late cleric served as chaplain to two Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and headed the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, describing him as a man who believed that faith should positively influence governance and national development.
Paying tribute to the late preacher, Archbishop Okoh said: “Rev. Okoye was a humble servant of God who carried every responsibility entrusted to him with wisdom, grace and unwavering dedication. He was deeply committed to the unity of the Church and was always ready to lend his voice and experience whenever called upon.”
He added that the late cleric’s wisdom, calm disposition and commitment to advancing God’s Kingdom would remain a lasting legacy.
While praying for the peaceful repose of his soul, CAN urged God to comfort his family, the All Christians Fellowship Mission and all those grieving over the loss, describing his life as one devoted to the service of God and humanity.
