The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the founder and leader of All Christians Fellowship (ACF), Abuja, Rev. William Okoye, describing him as one of Nigeria’s distinguished Christian fathers whose life was devoted to the service of God and humanity.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Adebayo said the late cleric’s ministry transcended denominational boundaries and inspired generations of Christians to embrace holiness, integrity and selfless service.
He said Rev. Okoye remained a strong advocate of truth, peace, justice and national reconciliation throughout his lifetime, adding that his commitment to strengthening the Christian faith and raising leaders of character had left an enduring legacy.
“Nigeria has lost one of her distinguished Christian fathers whose life was devoted to the service of God, the unity of the Body of Christ, the advancement of righteousness, and the moral transformation of our nation,” Adebayo said.
According to him, the late cleric’s contributions to the unity of the Church and the moral development of society would continue to resonate for generations.
The SDP chieftain, on behalf of his family, the party and Nigerians who value integrity and selfless leadership, extended condolences to the family of the deceased, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and the wider Christian community across Nigeria and beyond.
While mourning the cleric’s passing, Adebayo urged Christians to draw inspiration from his exemplary life of service and unwavering commitment to God.
He expressed confidence that Rev. Okoye’s works would continue to speak long after his death and prayed that God would comfort his family, friends and the Church.
Quoting Revelation 14:13, Adebayo said believers should take solace in the biblical assurance that “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… they will rest from their labours, and their works follow them.”
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late cleric’s soul and asked God to raise more faithful servants to continue the work to which Rev. Okoye dedicated his life.
