:Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that Spanish defender Marc Cucurella has completed a permanent transfer to Real Madrid.
In an official statement published on the club’s website, Chelsea announced that the 27-year-old left-back has left Stamford Bridge to join the Spanish La Liga giants on a permanent deal.
Cucurella, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Brighton & Hove Albion, departs after three years at the club, during which he was part of squads that won the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The club also noted that the Spanish international regularly featured for his national team during his time in England, including involvement in Spain’s UEFA European Championship-winning campaign in 2024.
Chelsea expressed appreciation for his contribution, thanking him for his service and wishing him success in the next chapter of his career.
Real Madrid also confirmed the agreement in a separate statement, saying both clubs had reached an agreement for the player’s transfer. The Spanish club added that Cucurella has signed a contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2032.
The move is part of Real Madrid’s ongoing squad restructuring, with the defender expected to add depth and competition in the left-back position ahead of the new season.
Cucurella’s departure comes after consistent interest in his services during the transfer window, with Madrid ultimately securing his signature on a long-term deal.
He is expected to link up with the squad following his international commitments with Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The transfer marks the end of Cucurella’s spell in the Premier League and begins a new chapter in La Liga with Real Madrid.
