Aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, Stanley Osifo, has conceded defeat and congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on emerging as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Osifo, in a message following the conclusion of the primary, described Tinubu’s victory as a triumph of democracy and party unity, pledging his full support for the APC ahead of the general elections.
“Democracy has won. I wholeheartedly accept the outcome of the primary election and congratulate my brother, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his well-deserved victory as the APC Presidential Candidate. The interest of the party and the nation comes first,” Osifo said.
He called on party members and supporters to rally behind Tinubu to ensure victory for the APC in 2027, stressing the need for unity and collective effort.
The APC presidential primary, which was conducted across the country, saw Tinubu emerge as the party’s flagbearer, reinforcing his position within the ruling party as it prepares for the next electoral cycle.
Political observers have described Osifo’s swift concession as a demonstration of democratic maturity, noting that such gestures help reduce post-primary tensions and strengthen internal party cohesion.
Party leaders also welcomed the development, saying it would foster unity within the APC and enable the party to focus on its campaign strategy ahead of the elections.
The primary process, which was largely peaceful, is seen as part of the APC’s efforts to consolidate its internal democratic mechanisms while positioning for the 2027 presidential race.
With the party now closing ranks behind its candidate, attention is expected to shift to policy direction, campaign strategy, and key national issues including the economy, security, and infrastructure.
