FCTA Reschedules Teachers’ Promotion Exam

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has rescheduled the 2025 promotion examination for education officers following a disruption allegedly caused by officials of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), FCT wing.

The examination, organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission in July 2025, was initially scheduled for officers across all cadres in the FCT Administration, including the education cadre.

However, while officers in other cadres sat for their examinations, education officers were reportedly prevented from taking theirs after NUT officials allegedly mobilised and chased them out of the examination hall on the two days allotted for the exercise.

Following appeals by the affected officers and interventions by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), FCT chapter, and the NUT, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, approved the rescheduling of the examination.

The administration said the decision was taken to enable the affected education officers to participate in the promotion exercise.

Consequently, the 2025 promotion examination for education officers has been scheduled to hold today and tomorrow in accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Rules.

The rescheduled exercise is expected to provide the affected officers another opportunity to sit for the examination and pursue their career progression within the FCT Administration.
