KANO — Federal Government appointees from Kano State have defended President Bola Tinubu’s multi-trillion naira infrastructure drive, saying ongoing projects across Northern Nigeria have weakened opposition criticism ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group, under the Forum of Federal Government Appointees from Kano State, said visible development projects have shifted public debate from political rhetoric to measurable performance.
In a statement issued in Kano, the forum’s spokesperson, Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, said the Tinubu administration is executing large-scale infrastructure projects that Nigerians can see and assess.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is executing a massive portfolio of infrastructure and developmental projects… worth trillions of naira. These are projects Nigerians can see and touch, not mere political rhetoric,” he said.
Kwankwaso argued that more than 30 federal projects are ongoing or completed in Kano, reflecting the administration’s commitment to economic growth and infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He listed key projects to include the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway reconstruction, Kano-Kongolam Road dualisation, Kano Eastern Bypass, Kano-Maradi Rail Line and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway.
Other initiatives highlighted include the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, irrigation and dam rehabilitation projects, healthcare interventions and the N47 billion Jakara-Gogau-Zungeru drainage project.
“These projects are not promises on paper. They are visible, verifiable and impactful,” Kwankwaso said, adding that the administration’s performance has made it difficult for opposition parties to sustain criticism.
He challenged opposition leaders to present alternative policy proposals rather than focus on attacks, insisting that governance should be judged by tangible results.
“Politics should be about performance and ideas. Nigerians will ultimately judge leaders by the projects they execute,” he added.
Kwankwaso also dismissed reports of a potential opposition coalition, describing it as lacking the structure and nationwide support needed to unseat the ruling party.
He disclosed that the forum has intensified mobilisation efforts to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, alongside other political candidates in Kano State.
The group maintained that continued infrastructure development remains central to the administration’s strategy for economic transformation and electoral success.
