The Northern Youth Progressive Network (NYPN) has commended Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for his role in driving grassroots political mobilisation and promoting national unity through the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the group’s Media Directorate and Publicity representative, Bala Mohammed, and made available to Daily Independent in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Wednesday.
The group said the ability to mobilise citizens across regional, ethnic and cultural boundaries remained a defining test of leadership in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
According to NYPN, the initiative provides an opportunity to deepen grassroots political engagement, strengthen public participation and promote a shared sense of national belonging.
The network noted that Tompolo, from his Niger Delta roots to his growing national political profile, had become a recognisable figure in Nigeria’s public discourse, adding that his leadership placed him within broader efforts to connect political leaders with communities across the country.
It said the significance of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement lay in its grassroots approach, which involves reaching households, engaging citizens and encouraging participation in the democratic process.
“For a diverse nation like Nigeria, such engagement offers an opportunity to bridge regional divides and reinforce the understanding that our collective future depends on cooperation, inclusion and mutual respect,” the statement said.
However, the group stressed that Tompolo’s position as national chairman of the movement came with significant responsibilities, noting that the major challenge was to translate political influence into effective organisation and stronger relationships among Nigerians.
NYPN maintained that sustained grassroots engagement could help foster greater interaction among citizens from different backgrounds and strengthen the sense of shared responsibility necessary for national development.
