Controversial social media personality BLord has sparked outrage after revealing what he described as vastly different treatments between himself and activist VeryDarkMan while in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.
In a viral statement, BLord claimed his two-week detention at the facility felt like a “vacation,” while alleging that VeryDarkMan was subjected to harsh conditions.
“Kuje Correctional Centre looks like an NYSC camp — very big. They kept me where powerful people stay,” BLord said.
“I went on vacation in Kuje Prison. I had my own chef, and my room had every appliance you could think of.”
He then drew a sharp contrast with VeryDarkMan’s alleged experience:
“When VeryDarkMan was taken to Kuje Prison, he was kept where they kept people carrying bombs, and they beat the hell out of him.”
The remarks have triggered massive backlash and debate online, with many Nigerians questioning the alleged selective treatment of inmates in the same facility.
BLord’s claims have raised fresh concerns about inequality in the Nigerian correctional system, particularly the alleged preferential treatment given to certain detainees while others, especially vocal critics, face harsher conditions.
Kuje Correctional Centre, which houses high-profile inmates including politicians, activists, and terrorism suspects, has faced repeated accusations of disparities in inmate treatment over the years.
As of press time, neither the Nigeria Correctional Service nor VeryDarkMan has issued a response to BLord’s claims.
The controversy has once again put the spotlight on the management and transparency of Nigeria’s prison system.
