LOKOJA — The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has praised the Federal Government’s student loan scheme, describing it as a major boost to access to higher education in Nigeria.
Avidime said the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has expanded opportunities for students, easing the financial burden on families and supporting academic advancement.
Speaking during the visit of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Kogi State, the rector said government policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are delivering measurable impact.
“The Federal Government’s education and social investment programmes are making positive impacts on the lives of many Nigerian families,” he said.
He also commended the First Lady’s empowerment initiatives, noting that her programmes targeted at women and vulnerable groups are helping to improve livelihoods.
During the visit, Senator Tinubu commissioned key projects, including the Kogi State Pension and Treasury House, and launched the National Community Food Bank to strengthen food security.
She also flagged off an empowerment programme benefiting over 2,000 women in the state.
Avidime said the turnout of students and staff during the visit reflected strong institutional support for policies aimed at human capital development and social welfare.
He reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote education, economic empowerment and sustainable development.
The rector also commended the Kogi State Government for its role in hosting the First Lady and advancing infrastructure and development programmes across the state.
