Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a 2-2 draw by Poland on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, in a high-intensity international friendly as both sides continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match, played in front of 54,408 spectators, saw Nigeria take the lead twice but concede a stoppage-time equaliser that ensured the hosts salvaged a draw.
Nigeria opened scoring in the 23rd minute through Terem Moffi, who finished off a move assisted by Moses Simon. Poland restored parity just before half-time through Kacper Potulski in the 45+1 minute.
The Super Eagles regained the lead in the second half when Paul Onuachu converted from the penalty spot in the 77th minute, putting Nigeria on course for a notable away win.
However, the lead was cancelled out deep into added time as Przemysław Wiśniewski fired home in the 90+5 minute to secure a 2-2 draw for Poland.
Nigeria showed strong attacking intent and controlled large phases of the encounter, while Poland increased pressure in the second half. Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye produced several key saves to keep the Super Eagles in front before the late equaliser.
Coach Éric Chelle’s side also impressed with tactical discipline and effective substitutions, maintaining structure and competitiveness against a European opponent ranked higher on the FIFA standings.
The result extends Nigeria’s positive run in recent friendly matches and is viewed as a solid test ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and preparations.
Nigeria, ranked 26th in the world compared to Poland’s 35th, will next face Portugal in another high-profile friendly fixture.
