ABUJA, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its condolences to the State of Qatar following a deadly explosion at the Ras Laffan Industrial Complex that claimed 13 lives and left 66 others injured.
In a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria described the incident as tragic and expressed solidarity with the Qatari government and affected families.
On behalf of the government, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed sympathies to the bereaved and wished the injured a swift recovery.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs extends heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the State of Qatar, particularly the families of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident, and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured,” the statement read.
Nigeria also reaffirmed its support for Qatar during this difficult period.
“The thoughts and prayers of the Government and people of Nigeria are with the Government and people of the State of Qatar at this difficult time,” the statement added.
The Ras Laffan Industrial Complex is a critical energy and industrial hub in Qatar, making the explosion a significant incident with both humanitarian and economic implications.
