ABUJA — Nigeria and Germany will hold high-level bilateral consultations on Wednesday in Abuja as both countries move to deepen economic, diplomatic and strategic cooperation.
The talks will see Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, host her German counterpart, Johann David Wadephul, for discussions aimed at strengthening longstanding relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, noting that the meeting will review existing agreements and explore new areas of collaboration. The statement was signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.
According to the statement, the engagement will focus on expanding trade and investment, attracting German capital into Nigeria’s priority sectors, and enhancing cooperation in renewable energy and green industrialisation.
Discussions are also expected to cover vocational education, skills development, and collaboration in science, technology and innovation.
The ministry described Germany as one of Nigeria’s key strategic partners in Europe, with cooperation spanning several sectors including climate action, agriculture, healthcare, migration, digital innovation and security.
It added that the consultation would provide an opportunity for both countries to assess progress in their bilateral relations and chart a path for deeper engagement.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Germany, expressing optimism that the visit would open new avenues for collaboration and support inclusive economic growth.
The ministry further noted that the meeting underscores the shared commitment of both countries to promoting regional stability, sustainable development and addressing global challenges through partnership.
