NRS, NMDPRA Strengthen Collaboration on Revenue Efficiency and Petroleum Regulation

Abuja, Nigeria — The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch A. Adedeji, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to closer inter-agency cooperation aimed at improving regulatory efficiency, revenue collection, and national economic development.

Dr. Adedeji made the remarks on Thursday when he received the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, during a courtesy visit to the NRS headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting provided a platform for both institutions to deepen strategic engagement and explore areas of mutual interest, particularly in strengthening governance frameworks within the petroleum and revenue administration sectors.

According to a statement from the NRS, the engagement underscores the importance of collaboration among key regulatory agencies in driving transparency, accountability, and efficient public service delivery.

The NRS Chairman reiterated the agency’s readiness to work closely with the NMDPRA and other stakeholders to enhance compliance systems and support Nigeria’s broader economic reform agenda.

On his part, the NMDPRA Chief Executive emphasized that sustained inter-agency collaboration remains critical to achieving national economic objectives, particularly in a sector central to government revenue and energy security.

Both agencies expressed optimism that strengthened cooperation would improve operational efficiency and contribute significantly to national development priorities.
