Oborevwori to host Delta security summit on coordinated response to insecurity

Asaba, Delta State — Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will host a security summit aimed at strengthening a coordinated response to insecurity across Delta State.

The summit is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, beginning at 10:00 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu.

Themed “Security: A Collective Responsibility,” the event is expected to bring together security chiefs, representatives of the armed forces, NDLEA, NSCDC, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, transport unions and civil society organisations.

Dr. Emu said the summit reflects the administration’s commitment to building a safer Delta State through collaboration among key stakeholders.

“Security remains a shared responsibility requiring active participation of government institutions, security agencies, community leaders and citizens,” the statement read.

He added that the summit will provide a platform for stakeholders to assess emerging security challenges and develop practical strategies to improve peace and stability across the state.

The government urged all invited participants to attend, noting that their contributions would help shape stronger and more effective security frameworks.

The meeting is also expected to strengthen ongoing collaboration between security agencies and community-based groups in tackling crime and other security threats in Delta State.
