Sallah: COAS Hosts Troops To Special Luncheon In Edo, Hails Sacrifices Against Terrorists

 

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Sallah day hosted troops of the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army to a special luncheon at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Ehor, in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, where he commended soldiers for their courage and sacrifices in the fight against insecurity across the country.

 

Addressing the troops during the celebration, the COAS described Eid-el-Kabir as a festival that symbolises sacrifice, faith and spiritual reflection, stressing that such virtues align with the core values and responsibilities of military service.

 

He praised the troops for their loyalty, resilience and unwavering commitment in ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, oil theft and other criminal activities threatening national peace and stability.

 

According to him, Nigerians remain proud of the selfless service and dedication of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

The COAS, who was represented by the Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, also assured troops of the Army leadership’s commitment to improving the welfare of personnel and members of the Nigerian Army community.

 

He urged officers and soldiers to continue upholding the core values of the Nigerian Army in all their engagements.

 

The Army Chief further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his continued support, leadership and commitment towards enhancing the welfare and operational effectiveness of the military.

 

Earlier, the Officer Commanding FOB Ehor, Captain Ahmad Mohammed, said the luncheon provided an opportunity for troops to renew their dedication to duty and motivate one another towards greater service to the nation.

 

He commended the Brigade Commander for his leadership and encouragement, which he noted had inspired troops to continue striving for excellence in their operations.

 

Mohammed also appreciated the Chairman of Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Agie Joseph Samuel; the Enogie of Ehor, Chief Joseph Ogiehor JP, represented by Chief Peter Idemudia; and heads of security agencies in the area for attending the event.

 

Highlights of the celebration included cultural dance performances, presentation of souvenirs, morale-boosting songs and a special luncheon for troops.
