ABUJA — Ambassador Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari has been honoured with a grand send-off in Abuja following his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Malaysia, with concurrent accreditation to Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony, organised by members of the 18th Regular Course of the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy (FSA), brought together serving and retired diplomats, senior government officials, and associates to celebrate his distinguished career and elevation.
According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the event held at Ibeto Hotels, Abuja, highlighted Sulu-Gambari’s contributions to Nigeria’s foreign service and his preparedness for the new diplomatic assignment.
Speaking at the event, former Nigerian Ambassador to Cuba, Ambassador Ben Okoyen, described Sulu-Gambari as an accomplished and dedicated diplomat.
“His professionalism, humility and commitment to national service have earned him the confidence of the Federal Government,” Okoyen said, expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen Nigeria’s relations with Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
In his remarks, Sulu-Gambari expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the trust placed in him, pledging to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.
“I remain committed to promoting Nigeria’s national interest and strengthening bilateral ties with dedication, professionalism and integrity,” he said.
Also speaking, Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate to India, Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Mohammed, described the appointment as a testament to years of exemplary service, urging him to deliver a successful and impactful tenure.
The event featured goodwill messages, presentation of a commemorative plaque, and was attended by diplomats, Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, and family members.
